Mandy Moore had quite the week last week, gaining both a future husband (Ryan Adams) and a detergent sponsor (Gain). While the first partnership hasn’t borne any musical fruit just yet, the latter has resulted in the first single from her forthcoming album Amanda Leigh being downloadable from a Mandy-riffic site set up by the detergent. (Annoying alert: In order to register, the site requires that you upload an image of yourself, for who knows what reason.) “I Can Break Your Heart Any Day Of The Week” is a peppy little earworm that Moore co-wrote with former Candy Butcher Mike Viola; it sneaks in a lyrical reference to wrapping the lover in sheets, which I guess is supposed to be a pleasant fate because of the sweet smell of the detergent they’re washed in. Clip after the jump.

Ryan Adams can’t POSSIBLY be takin’ care of that ass.
Wait, I’m sorry … did you just say Mike Viola?!?!
Woah.
Mandy’s always a sentimental fave, I’m mildly stunned at all this news, but … uh, go on girl. (Though that Gain site is … CREEPY. Srsly.)
@the rich girls are weeping: yes!!
It’s been years since it came out, but I still play the heck out of “Hang On Mike”. This post is yet another reminder that I have to catch up on all things Viola post-”Mike” (and get The Candy Butchers’ 2nd album, too).
@Maura Johnston: you know, i’m still having trouble digesting all of this information at once.
@owenmeany: Dude, I’ve been thinking the SAME THING! There’s just no way.

@owenmeany:
I hope they don’t musically collaborate.
@Maura Johnston:
Mike moved to L.A. in late ‘07 to do more collaborative songwriting after working on Walk Hard. (Point of disclosure: I’m friends with him.) He spent a bunch of time writing and recording with Mandy last year, and has been busy writing with many other singers. It turned out to be a great move financially for him and his family.
It’s no Senses Working Overtime, though, is it?
@Figgsrock: ah, nice! yeah, i actually picked up the LEO album as a result of researching this post.
@owenmeany: Nope, there is no way.
