I strongly defend Strykert,because I hold him in high esteem. He’s an intelligent man and a great artist…..Excellent guitarist,his scowling face makes him very original. I don’t believe in a Men at Work’s reunion,even if I should like it.

I think this: if Ron wants justice about money and copyright,he’s in the right. For me,Ron is a wonderful man and must be a reason to his behaviour. He’s an intelligent and talented boy,so we must respect him. Excuse eventual mistakes,but I write from Italy. Anyhow,I hope in a future band’s reunion,to play all together again.

It’s a shame that this happened. It sounds like one of those things we all say, but we never mean them. It saddens me because Men At Work was one of the TRULY great bands to come out of the eighties (most stuff from then massively SUCKED). I liked what I heard of some solo stuff, but none of it was as good as MAW. Their progressive sound was tremendous, and their pop singles were silly, yet stylish. I remain hopeful of a reunion, tour, and an album. Please make this happen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I want to side with Hay, but after the stunt he pulled here in Australia leading up to the New Year’s Eve 2000 I find it hard to do. I wouldn’t be shocked if what Strykert is saying is true, even if he seems a tad nutty.

The story's been updated a bit:

Updated, 10:21 a.m.: Sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore said today that Strykert made the threat over the phone from his residence in Bozeman, Mont. Whitmore said sheriff's officials sent Strykert a letter in April, ordering him to appear in Malibu court, but the guitarist never showed up for his May 30 arraignment on misdemeanor charges of making criminal threats.

Updated 10:30 a.m.: Strykert denied making the threat, Whitmore said, and Hay told investigators he did not believe the guitarist would carry out the threat.
