Today In Musician-Related Booze News: Jimi’s Vodka Gets Unplugged, Kid Rock’s Beer Gets Thumbs-Up

• A judge has ruled that Hendrix Electric Vodka (prototype bottle shown at left) will disappear in a purple haze of legal reasons. Experience Hendrix and Authentic Hendrix, which own Jimi Hendrix’s name for licensing purposes, have won a $3.2 million judgment against Hendrix Electric Spirits for using the guitarist’s likeness without their permission. • Meanwhile, the Michigan Brewing Company, located in Webberville, is going to receive a tax break in order to hasten the production of a Kid Rock-branded beer. I bet it’ll go really well with all the offerings at Waffle House! [KalamaBrew]

• Have any of you guys tried Jimmy Buffett’s Land Shark Lager? Just curious. [The Duane Reade Near My Apartment]

Landshark is no Sparks (RIP) that's for sure.

At a holiday party at my girlfriend's parents house, they ran out of all the good beer and all that was left was 2 cases of Land Shark that some estranged cousin brought. Not ready to give up on my buzz, I choked down 2 or 3 of these with great pain. Antistar2000 is spot on with the watery Corona Light comparison, although I would also add it tastes somehow salty. If you close your eyes and swish it around your palette, you actually start to see lawn chairs and tie dye.

    Buffett is such a whore.

I tried Buffet's beer. Not very good. Sort of a watered down Corona Light(which is basically a watered down Corona).

I ordered Land Shark beer at a bar once when options were slim. It tasted like warm, flat, bland beer just like I'd imagine you'd get in the lawn seats at a Buffett concert.

I tried buying the Buffett beer once but they carded me and said I had to be 50 to buy it.

I've picked up the Buffett beer repeatedly, thinking 'What's this?!' and then put it back, afraid to support that man.
