Lucas is too shy to post it, but I’m not: His band Venice Is Sinking (he’s the drummer!) has a new album coming out next month and a new video, for the gently humming “Ryan’s Song,” available for viewing on the Internet right now. The clip is themed around a move, sort of, with our Athens correspondent spending some quality time under one of those heavy blankets things get wrapped in during moves. (I hope he got to breathe some fresh air between takes, because those things just suck up everything in the room.) [Stereogum]

Jubilant Santorum sweeps Minnesota and Colorado
WASHINGTON (AP) -- A resurgent Rick Santorum won Republican presidential caucuses in Minnesota and Colorado on Tuesday night, a stunning sweep that raised fresh questions about front-runner Mitt Romney's appeal among the ardent conservatives at the core of the party's political base ...
Stocks slightly higher after debt deal in Greece
NEW YORK - The stock market finally got the deal it wanted from Greece on Thursday, but investors weren't sure what to think of it. U.S. stocks rose in the morning after Greece announced an agreement to cut costs and keep from defaulting on its debt next month, an event that could have shocked the ...

thats so weird. i named a song that i wrote “venice is sinking” (it totally is!) and one day a while back, i happened on the band when i was checking to see if anyone had used that before for a song name. didn’t know that they were idolator-related.

@infinit Loop: we’re all connected, just like new york telephone said.

I’m at work and can’t listen right now, but this should be cool. He talked a couple times about his analog recording experience…now we shall see how it turned out(if this is even those sessions he was referring to).

I think Lucas slept on my floor after a show at the Red Rose Cafe in ‘05. Or maybe it was The Boro…I can’t remember. All the smelly dudes that slept on my living floor have blurred into one monolithic “indie rocker”. I do know that I’ve seen VIS a bunch of times and they are quite good.

Maura has made me feel like a kid whose mom embarrassed him. “Sing for your auntie!”

@MayhemintheHood: Yeah, it’s all analog (we’ve never really done otherwise), for sure, though the video sound, of course, isn’t as good as the album. The MP3 there, though, is decent.

@BawstonSean: It was the Boro, for sure! Holy crap, really? Man, I didn’t know we knew each other. And, hey, I’m an obsessive bather.

@BawstonSean: And thanks for the place to stay!

@Lucas Jensen: and eat your peas!

@Lucas Jensen: It was probably the couch that stunk, it has been kicking around the Murfreesboro rock scene since the Spongebath Records days. It was Glossary’s before I had it and Those Darlins have it now. That couch has slept with more bands then the Plaster Casters.

@BawstonSean: Holy crap, Spongebath. I’ve played in Murfreesboro a few times, I think, and always have had a great time. We need to go back!

@infinit Loop: “And If Venice Is Sinking” is a single from Canadian band Spirit Of The West’s 1993 album “Faithlift”

@cheesebubble: Oh man, that song is the bane of our Google-searching existence.

Lucas, your band is good. Drums sounded awesome, by the way. Keep on that analog train, my friend.

@MayhemintheHood: Thanks, man! I’m sure we’re all over the torrents now….haha.
