At some point in the last year, my home state decided we just don’t care for the hip hop music. (Perhaps the tensions started simmering when Public Enemy put out “By The Time I Get To Arizona”?) First, a bouncer at a Tempe club hit one of the guys from Kidz In The Hall in the eye, then the DMX witch hunt (can’t a man keep drugs and pit bulls at his house?) and his dreadful prison stay. But last night, one man decided to take matters into his own hands.
In the Prescott Valley area (located north of Phoenix), 44-year-old Russell Allen McGie, had a plastic cup of beer in hand and a gun in the other, and he (allegedly) pointed his weapon at a woman who he believed was playing rap in her car. The woman claimed a different car was responsible for that infernal music, but then things got crazy, with bystanders tackling McGie and taking away his gun. All was well when police arrived. All the man wanted to do was get blazing drunk at his house before stumbling into public with a holstered gun to get some chewing tobacco, and then he was assaulted by the music the kids like.
Sadly, because of non-overlapping jurisdictions, McGie and DMX won’t likely meet up in custody.

hm.
hehe. this reminds me of that kinda hilarious, kinda offensive bumper sticker. “i listen to rap music… at most every stoplight, parking lot, and gas station.” or something to that effect.
Is that the dude’s mug shot? If so, it’s for the best that he’s off our streets. And preferably in the hands of whatever black separatist/Mexican Mafia devotee is in his jail cell.
The real proof that Arizonans hate rap isn’t the man with the gun; it’s the woman who made sure to point out that it wasn’t HER listening to the rap. He almost shot the wrong innocent bystander.
