The Union Square Virgin Megastore will call it a day in late May or early June, according to a spokeswoman who confirmed reports of its demise to The New York Times‘ Ben Sisario. The hulking building on 14th St. that houses Virgin at present is also home to a Circuit City branch in its last days, so potential tenants might be a bit wary. (And the whole “being located under a completely unappetizing piece of public art” thing will likely scare away any restaurateurs. No word yet on when the bigger than even the Times Square clearance sale will start in full force, but once the discounts really kick in, we should definitely throw a wake of sorts there, right?
