Keri Hilson’s Album To Finally See The Light Of Day

Do you know how long it’s been since we first wrote about Keri Hilson’s A Perfect World, which is finally coming out (maybe) on March 24? Almost 18 months. In that time, a lot of stuff has happened! But for Hilson, perhaps the most important thing that happened was the success of her single “Turnin’ Me On,” which has an assist from Lil Wayne and which sold 58,000 e-singles this week (374,000 to date).

“Turnin’ Me On” is a pretty OK song, one that jumped out at me the first time I heard it on the radio (at a hair salon); its sales aren’t exactly setting the world on fire, but I’m going to guess that Hilson’s label just wanted the record to get out there, what with it festering for so long. Whether or not it’ll sell anything… its preorders on Amazon have its overall sales rank in the mid-500s, right around where albums of the “customers also bought” variety by the likes of J. Holliday and Bobby Valentino lie. But Amazon’s charts tend to skew away from commercial R & B, and I think the presence of Ne-Yo, TImbaland, and T-Pain should at least raise the interest in this album, if not its overall numbers.

I’m more than ready to finally hear this.

Perhaps this album will be huge and usher in a new golden age of class and respect in our nighttime drinking and dancing establishments. Or it will tank when the masses realize they are the ones “turning (her) off”.

    This song is wonderfully insidious.

@bcapirigi: The one rhyming “vagina tight” with “piranha bite,” is the original; the (second) remix has him using an almost double-time flow. There’s also a remix with T.I. and Busta “I Am On Every Hip-Hop Remix of 2009″ Rhymes.

My two cents on the song can be found here, but,

@Rock You Like An Iracane: But I’m apparently incapable of finishing sentences.

That album cover is wonderfully heinous!

@Lucas Jensen: Unique color scheme, great legs, what’s not to like?

it reminds me of the blake lewis cover kinda.

@Al Shipley: Well, the legs, sure. Maybe I don’t like that it’s ugly?

i really love Turnin Me On, although there’s two different versions of Lil Wayne’s verse and I can’t figure out which is which…

@Al Shipley: Oh, but the song is pretty good, I think.
