The passage of time has allowed me to become comfortable with asserting that the lineups that the Lilith Fair trucked around the country three years in a row were pretty solid for a traveling festival. With this decade’s focus on single-location festivals, it was only a matter of time before someone tried to grab on to the old Sarah McLachlan/Paula Cole demographic, except without stars like McLachlan to up the wattage on their bills. The truly regrettably named Chicks With Picks festival is coming to Tempe, Ariz., with Michelle Branch, Sarah Buxton, and Jessi Colter (who really deserves much better than to be stuck behind those two) headlining a 70-act bill. What, Joan Osborne wasn’t available? [Official site]

But — Team Michelle, big-time!
Didn’t the all-female Hotel Cafe Tour already cover this?
Me’shell Ndegeocello made the Lilith Fair worth going to… and a secret Natalie Merchant obsession.
I certainly hope you’re not dissing Sarah Buxton.
@Chris N.: I like Sarah Buxton, actually, but I doubt I’d be willing to spend all day in the sun to see her in a festival setting, especially if she’s on a Michelle Branch undercard.
