Last week, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ It’s Blitz leaked—nearly two months before its April 14 U.S. release date. So the record’s release dates have been juggled a bit; it’ll be out digitally next week (March 9 in the U.K., March 10 in the U.S.), and its physical release has been moved up to March 31 in the States and April 6 in the rest of the world. Nine days between action and reaction may seem like a long time in the fast-everything age, but for a major label, that’s like lightning speed. [yeahyeahyeahs.com via FACT]

YYY + electro kick = :)
Wonder if Grizzly Bear fans are gonna hit up dudes twitter now like “C? IT CAN B DONE! DO IT 4 US, PLEASE, JUST LIKE THE YYY’S!!!”
This is unbelievably heartening news. Seeing a major respond to the realities of the music business like this comes as a shock to me.

I was just saying the other day, does anyone get excited about new release Tuesdays anymore? Like, on the actual Tuesday of the release? Don’t get me wrong, I like new music like whoa, even more so if it is by an artist I adore, but I can wait. And I try my best to avoid grabbing leaks, even if I am in desperate need of some new long players in my life (as is the case right now).
I just miss the days when I would be a little late to school cause I copped a disc at 8 on a Tuesday morning at the Wherehouse or headed to a store at midnight on a Monday night to cop a new disc. Guess I’m old fashioned.
@Tauwan: I’m glad to see the music industry waking up to the realities of doing business today instead of wasting time and money playing whack-a-mole on leaks.

Touche. If I see that “Web Sheriff” one more time…
