Apologies if you have seen this before, but I’m over the moon about it. As far as I know, Don Cornelius remained agnostic to the Soul Train Line during all of its years except for this one instance, when he was cajoled by the Supremes’ Mary Wilson into joining her for a stroll. The audience went wild, of course, as Cornelius and Wilson sauntered down the aisle to the J.B.’s “Doing It To Death.” Befitting the man, Cornelius’ moves are refined, relaxed, and cool. It’s nice to reminisce about this idyllic time before we realized that Don Cornelius was a jerk. Sigh. [Dailymotion]

whoa. check his footwork.
@silkyjumbo: It’s so smooth. It’s like a liquid.
Was he wearing roller skates?
Highlights for me, aside from Don, were the second couple and the guy with the pie plate-sized belt buckle. Also, watching this makes we want to hack off my legs and burn them in shame.
@disinterested 3rd party: I know. And it was like this every week for 30 years. I’m a terrible dancer.
My secret daydream, apart from being a dancer in a Bollywood movie, has always been to shimmy down the Soul Train line. I’m a decent dancer but have the feeling that, in real life, I’d freeze when my turn came. Sigh.
i have in my possession two framed platinum dru hill records given to don cornelius with a plaque thanking him for being “one of the first to believe.” i’m moving and it’s heavy. anyone want to make me an offer?
i’ll throw in a tapeheads dvd.
Watching American Bandstand,then Soul Train on Saturday mornings and dancing like happy epileptics was obviously a great way to start the weekend….Singers needs to be those who are able to do with dignity.It might be best to have those that appeared on Soul Train during its peak years. Any ideas,hussies?
Please inform me we did not really look like that, dress prefer that, and dance like this? I swear I saw a male who could pass for a sista, another Michael Jackson “don’t stop til you obtain enough” video clone, and Rhianna’s mother (the chick with your ex hair down to her ass dancing in most sort of baby doll lingerie outfit). Oh that i’m sure I saw a Rick James wannabe in there too. Pretty much everything before 10 every day!
