@SkyHits: They also gave her a songbook signed by Richard Rogers, so they're getting a little better. And she gave the same signed photograph of HERSELF that she gives to everybody. I put HERSELF in caps to emphasize what a jack-ass you have to be to give anyone you're not sleeping with a signed and framed picture of yourself.

@Lokimotive: I support the gift. I doubt the Queen of England cares that this is a previously compiled set of songs. The gift is the songs. Do you imagine she's complaining that some obscure ballad from PACIFIC OVERTURES wasn't included by a knowing White House staffer?

The gifts Obama keeps giving to dignitaries seem like the type of thing I would give to dignitaries. Which is to say, they suck.

If you're going to load up an iPod, why would you stick to a two disc set? Why not go whole hog and get a genre "spanning" Rhino box set or something. Or a few Rhino box sets.

On the other hand, he could have put Throbbing Gristle's TG24 on there. I can't even begin to imagine the expressions on the queen's face that listening session would conjure.
