Edge of Seventeen was released as a single in 1982 from the Bella Donna album (which came out in 1981). Chart dates and positions are the only thing American Idol cares about.

I don’t know if this leak is accurate or not, but if it is – and even if it isn’t – has there ever been a more musically uncool or less current 23-year old than Scott? Bruce Hornsby, Billy Joel, the Phil Collins-approved “You Can’t Hurry Love”, a bad Michael Jackson album track, and now Chicago? Even David Archuleta would’ve scoffed at some of these choices!

I can just hear Lil Rounds singing that song, and it doesn’t sound good at all. She really hasn’t been doing herself any favours with her song choices, but I agree with brasstax, Scott’s time is up.

Also, can the contestants request backup dancers for their performances? Cause I don’t see how Lil Rounds can perform Let’s Hear it For the Boy without some scantily clad dudes and/or dudes in football uniforms as props/ dancing in the background. Think about it. Hell, they can just stand there as she moves through or around them like a hall of mirrors or something.

Song choice aside, does anyone else feel as if they shouldn’t stare at the picture of the Top 8 for too long? I don’t know what it is, but something’s going on there, and it just don’t feel right. (Or natural. Maybe the word I’m going for is natural.)

@brasstax: It's kind of a weird choice because that track is all about the (surprisingly awesome) production. I don't think it'll sound all that great as played by the AI wedding band crew. And it's not that interesting of a vocal.

If it turns out to be true, I can't blame Allison for wanting to take on a ballad. That one's just not so great, but a lot of people aren't me actually like Eric Clapton and that song in particular. Whatever. This is Scott's week to go home.

Also, Anoop! I was just talking about "Who's Johnny" in the 45's comment thread the other day and now he's going to dust it off for tv. That's just strange.
