The first single by the Dead Weather—the sorta-supergroup that brings together names from the White Stripes, the Kills, the Raconteurs, and Queens of the Stone Age—is “Hang You From The Heavens,” a jagged little blues number that has the Kills’ Allison Mossheart growling to a lover in such a way that it sounds like she wants to devour him alive. (In a good and bad way.) Even with the hair shout-out, I feel like it could be a really great song if it was maybe 45 seconds shorter. Perhaps Jack White wanted to indulge his Lead Singer Syndrome a bit by getting a few drum fills front-and-center? Clip after the jump.

I didn’t think much of this upon first listen, but it was still in my head 20 minutes later, in a good way, so yeah…cool shit.
Yeah, maybe a little too long, especially since I always think the Kills have perfect song lengths. But still super super good. Her voice sounds amazing. Thanks for this! I had no idea!
Even though I like Jack White, I would’ve never cared about the Dead Weather if VV wasn’t in the band.
I think Jack White’s real future is as a producer. I watched the James Bond movie the other night and that song was pretty hot, I thought.
