YACHT Will Make You Feel The Pain In Black And White

April 9th, 2009 // 3 Comments

Sure, the cover for YACHT’s See Mystery Lights just looks kind of blandly odd on first glance. But this is just Phase One of the cover, which will apparently be packaged with a “special holographic foil” that gives off an effect that takes the hurt-your-brain concept that the Black Lips and Animal Collective employed earlier this year to new levels. And the aftereffects of that effect? Well, now I can’t look at the cover without my brain wiggling every element of its artwork around. Some things, you can never unsee, I guess.

By October we’ll probably have someone (Trent Reznor?) working to mass-produce a cover that actually shoots out lasers in an attempt to hypnotize anyone who even walks by a record store. Yay, technology!

    Another Kiss tribute, then:

  2. Lucas Jensen

I was hoping he had covered Dino, Jr.’s “Feel The Pain”.

Yacht is a band that no one I know had ever heard of before Yacht member Jona Bechtolt went public about using Warez to produce music, specifically Audiodamage.com’s plugins.

Which prompted Christopher Randall (aka Micronaut, former Sister Machinegun frontman) to Pwn Jona on his AnalogIndustries blog:

As a supporter and customer of Audiodamage, Jona’s douchebag move led me to have no interest in ever hearing anything by Yacht. Besides what douchier name for a band could one imagine than “Yacht?”
