Legendary ska outfit the Specials—who are getting the band back together for a few appearances at shows during the upcoming months—appeared on TV for the first time since 1981 the other night, when they performed on Later With Jools Holland; they performed “A Message To You Rudy” (above) and “Gangsters” on the show. Unfortunately their tour doesn’t look like it’s coming to the U.S. just yet, although it does look like they have next weekend open, and Coachella hasn’t announced any surprise ticket-sales-goosing acts for Saturday or Sunday yet… [YouTube via The Tripwire]

God bless the Specials.
@owenmeany: Amen to that. Their debut is still in my top 10 favorite albums of all time.

Terry Hall is sort of ageless. He looks really good for fifty.
has any band looked less enthused to be reunited? outside of van halen, obv.
@doublewhiskycokenoice: A fairly lifeless perfomance, Terry Hall appears to be annoyed at being there.
Yeah, I hate to be That Guy, but no Jerry Dammers, no Specials. Also Terry Hall is doing an incredibly good simulation of Colin Newman.
Yeah wtf… I thought it was Jerry Dammers minus Terry Hall…
But hey I still got see English Beat when they come to town minus Ranking Roger, it’s just one of those things.
@mackro: Damn straight!
@mackro: How come they’re allowed to be the Specials now anyway? Weren’t they “Terry Hall and Friends” since Jerry had the rights to the Specials moniker?
