I have watched Lil Kim’s performance on last night’s Dancing With The Stars multiple times, hoping to figure out just what this “wardrobe malfunction” that is lighting up Google Trends this morning might entail and simultaneously giggling at the notion that the foul-mouthed MC who once found a pastie appropriate evening wear could go any further with the whole breast-revealing concept. For those of you who don’t have six minutes and change to spare, Kim danced the jive to “Jailhouse Rock” while wearing a policewoman’s uniform. And despite the weird mess of signifiers that collision of pop-cultural images left all over the parquet floor, she did it kind of well! And she actually seemed sort of happy, which is nice, you have to admit. (Apparently the “malfunction” came at the end of the dance; she told a Los Angeles radio station that “I don’t know why this happens a lot of the time, but … the girls were tryin’ to come out.” Oh, Kim. You know. Come on.)

Also, how crazy is it that an awkward locution uttered by Justin Timberlake as he was trying to backtrack his way out of post-Super Bowl XXXVIII fines from the FCC has become so entrenched in the culture of Google? I guess references to nipples still get blasted away by workplace firewalls. (Which doesn’t really bode well for this post’s traffic, but oh well.)
