I was a little amazed to discover that Adams has had 11 Top 10 and 22 Top 40 singles in the U.S. That’s quite a run, and the numbers compare favourably to those of both John Mellencamp – 10 and 21 – and Bruce Springsteen – 12 and 19.

As best as I can tell (I'd need to do a deep search in a Billboard book to confirm), Bryan Adams is the only act in the history of the charts whose entire output of No. 1 hits are from movies (and who topped the chart more than once, obviously). Not even Kenny "Soundtrack King" Loggins has that distinction.

Adams scored four U.S. No. 1 hits. The first one, "Heaven," was first recorded for the 1983 movie A Night in Heaven and then rereleased on the 1984 album Reckless. (In a further delay, the song wasn't tapped until that album's third single and topped the chart in the summer of '85.)

The other three were all either featured on Idol last night or mentioned in your post above: that unkillable Robin Hood song, that even more horrible Three Musketeers song, and that forgettable, does-this-thing-even-have-a-hook Don Juan DeMarco song.

For my money, "Heaven" is the only good one in the bunch. Natch, it's also the only one that took years to catch on, unlike the other three, which were all massive and inescapable on impact.

Hands up if you wanna see Quentin cast Bryan Adams in something? Tell me he couldn’t make magic with that craggy-ass face! Maybe a Bryan Adams / Seal team-up. Give Adams some of that Pam Grier mojo, Quentin!

I second a Bryan Adams night. Those soundtrack songs are too limiting though. Open up his whole catalog so we can hear some classics like “Cuts Like A Knife”, “Run To You”, “The Only Thing That Looks Good On Me Is You” and (ugh) “Summer of 69″.

Plus they could do “When You’re Gone” in the group song.
