Internet-beloved Swedish pop tartlet Lykke Li’s “I’m Good, I’m Gone” soundtracked the Ford ad on last night’s American Idol, thus proving that the show can actually appreciate something about the late-oughts (and actually sounding OK as a group sing, thanks to all the vocal layering). I was hoping that this would be a prelude to an announcement that next week’s theme would be Great Songs Written By Scandinavian Pop Geniuses, with guest mentor Max Martin–but alas, the Top Five will instead sing “Rat Pack Standards,” which I guess gives Matt Giraud yet another excuse to wear a hat.
