According to a mole who sent song spoilers for tonight’s American Idol to MJ’s Big Blog, glam-happy front-runner Adam Lambert is going to take on “Feelin’ Good” for Rat Pack Week–and he’s been inspired by the cover performed by the bombastic British rock act Muse, which is above. I suspect that his modern spin on the standard will result in his fate being much better than Leslie Hunt’s was a few years back, when she pulled out the song for the prelims and was promptly eliminated. (Just don’t scat, Adam, and you’ll be fine.) [YouTube / MJ]

I suppose Lambert picked up some phrasing ideas from this version, but with that big-band backing, I can’t say his live performance ultimately resembled this much.
Bombastic is a good word to describe this band. They have a real loyal following but I think they tend to overdo it a lot. I have to say I thought Adam’s version was pretty close to this.
Adam is a king at stealing other artists versions.
Check it out: Ring of Fire – Jeff Buckley, Mad World – Gary Jules, Feelin Good – Muse.
He get’s all kinds of mad props for being so original, but he is not crediting the artists for THEIR versions.
