Amanda Palmer, Neutral Milk Hotel, And A Bunch Of High School Students To Collide Online Tomorrow

A Needle That Sings In Her Heart, the musical based on Neutral Milk Hotel’s In The Aeroplane Over The Sea that was written by shape-shifting singer Amanda Palmer with the students of her former high school in Massachusetts (most of whom had never heard the record before embarking on this dramatic adventure), premiered last night. If you’re not in the Northeast and curious as to what might result from this stew, the Internet provides: The play will be broadcast live on Palmer’s Webcam channel tomorrow night at 7:30 p.m. ET. Hooray, now NMH multi-instrumentalist Julian Koster doesn’t have to be sad about living in Athens! [Party On The Internet via On The Download]

  1. To link this to yesterday’s post about how you learn about new music, I’m a little embarrased to say that I only know about this album because a few years ago amazon.com kept suggesting it to me based on my other purchases. I didn’t know anything about the history of the album/band, but just decided to get it. Holy crap was amazon’s computer right. I still listen the crap out of this album.

But sitting with the cast on the steps outside the school, listing the plays she and Bogart put on when she was a student there (one was based on the Legendary Pink Dots’ 1985 album, Asylum)
