Continuing in the tradition of Dr. J, Kelsey “Dr. Fraiser Crane” Grammer, and Gene “Dr. Love” Simmons, Dr. Dre has lent his expertise to a Dr Pepper commercial–and he’s also allowed them to use a few seconds of a track from his forever-delayed Detox. (It’s not the song playing in the first bit of the ad, in case you hit play and got worried.)

According to Nah Right, the song is called “Shit Popped Off,” and a version of it leaked earlier this year. Note also the plug for Dre’s headphones, which the DJ spinning bad techno is using despite his inherent wackness! Kind of a dubious endorsement there, but I guess the nature of hustling has fundamentally changed in these challenging times.
