Sooooo you're just going by your friends suggestions? Let's honor the genre and all the Spanish speaking countries full of creative artists. Start here: www.clubfonograma.com - then, in terms of Mexico - how about 'Mexican Institute of Sound' - someone mentioned Amandididita - then parties like Nacotheque/Automatico in NYC/LA - check em out...or Grammy-nominated [I know, who cares] Nortec Collective who closed Mutek last week in Montreal. Thanks for doing this feature - but let's make it a normal part of Idolator posts...music from Argentina, Spain, Colombia [Bomba Estereo, Pernett], Costa Rica, Ecuador, Chile, artists in Europe of Latin origin making music [they are in Germany, Italy, the UK]...etc! Descubre! There's even a conference in NYC in July with some amazing artists performing - www.latinalternative.com

I will love Cafe Tacuba forever and ever. Me too, and its hard for me to think of any other band that's been so consistently rewarding for the past 20 years. For those unfamiliar with los Tacubanos, I'd suggest giving "Volver A Comenzar", the 8-minute first single of 2007's excellent Sino, a listen:

Austin TV does nothing for me, but I will love Cafe Tacuba forever and ever.

Only vaguely related: my favorite Spanish language album recently has been the Teleradio Donoso disc. They sound somewhat like Phoenix (the band, not the city), which works for me.
