Lady GaGa (I just accidentally typed Lady HaHa) also has two hits in the top 10 in the same week that her next video debuted online. I seriously don’t get what’s happening to her, or what her crazy label is doing, but obviously it’s still working. (The Paparazzi video is typically horrible Jonas Akerlund crap, by the way.)

Congratulations to Shinedown on their first top ten. Too bad the song sucks.

Oh, and maybe Chart Beat addressed this, but two weeks ago (the last 100 and Single) had top ten debuts by the Glee cast’s “Don’t Stop Belivin’” cover at #4 and Linkin Park’s “New Divide” at #6. The following week, “Belivin’” fell 25 spots to #29 and “New Divide” plunged 33 to #39. I idly wonder if there have been other weeks where two songs fell more than 20 spots out of the top ten.

@DocStrange: An AP article on this week's chart attributed Use Somebody's jump to an increase in downloads from a performance at the MTV Movie Awards. It's still #12 on iTunes so if it picks up some CHR or Hot AC play (I miss you, Radio and Records charts), it's still an outside contender for the top ten.

A few weeks ago, I went to a Nationals game (Nats Vs. Pirates, quite possibly the least consequential sporting event I’ve attended in two decades), and my girlfriend asked whether Boom Boom Pow had made it to stadiums yet. Almost on queue it came on, and it was cut so that Boom Boom Pow was a cheer like Charge! or something. It’s the new “All Star”. Sigh.

Oh, and Kings of Leon’s “Use Somebody” – the most pop radio friendly song the band has ever made – managed to jump from #52 to #19 this week on the Billboard Hot 100. Which I still find strange.

I’ll be pissed if they discontinue Modern Rock Tracks just as actual alternative music is slowly returning to the chart. And dinosaurs like Metallica and Guns ‘n’ Roses are being beaten back by increased radio play by bands like Placebo, Death Cab for Cutie and MGMT.

I’ll be even more pissed if this is the excuse radio conglomerates need to merge their alt rock and active rock station together, so i’m forced to wait through songs by Hellyeah and Mudvayne to listen to a song by Grizzly Bear or Silversun Pickups.
