Taylor Swift Lives Out American Teenagers’ Rite Of Passage With T-Pain

As far as joke rappers go, Taylor Swift–who performed the above “Thug Story” with the ever-Autotuned T-Pain as part of last night’s CMT Awards–falls somewhere between Fred Durst and Rappin’ Rodney. Swift picked up two trophies for her actual “Love Story” clip, and the video’s director Trey Fanjoy also picked up the Director Of The Year award. The rest of the night… well, I’ll bet that even those of you with the most cursory knowledge of country music can probably ballpark the other artists who emerged victorious from the fan-voted proceedings. (One hint: Ginormous breakfasts!) Full list of winners after the jump.

Eight Worst Hip Hop Collaborations
What what, I knit sweaters yo? "Thug Story" transforms country princess Taylor Swift into a thug when she collaborates with the AutoTune sensation T-Pain. The music video was used as an opening for the 2009 CMT (Country Music Television) Awards show.
Collaborating is key to T-Pain success
A list of T-Pain's collaborators reads like a Grammy seating chart: Taylor Swift, Kanye West, Chris Brown, Flo Rida. The actual number is so large, even the man who made Auto-Tune famous can't wager a guess. "I'm open to working with anybody," he says.

  1. She seems to have picked up her cadence from SNL-assisted Natalie Portman.

  2. OMG, you guys! GO to cmt.com and search for “Taylor Swift” and “Pour Some Sugar On Me”! Why I was not informed of this episode of Crossroads?

  3. i enjoyed the Zac Brown Band’s win, the B-52’s performance with Sugarland made me sad, Bill Engvall improbably made me wish the Cyrus clan was hosting again, and I spent most of the evening trying to decide whether Kid Rock was more drunk than high or more high than drunk.
