NME editor Conor McNicholas is stepping down after seven years editing the apoplectic British fanzine; he’s heading over to the BBC, where he’ll run the magazine tied to the network’s cheeky automotive show Top Gear. It’s apparently the country’s top-selling automotive mag, but jumping from a music magazine to a car magazine certainly seems like an “interesting” career move in the current economic environment. No word from NME on who’s going to replace McNicholas yet. [Twitter via Blue Lines Revisited]

I’d actually really love Peter Robinson of Popjustice to replace him (I see a few people are already tossing about the idea on Twitter).
Scratch that, “a few people” has turned into an Internet Campaign.
@memento: oh WOW. that would be a great move, yes.
ps: hee hee.
