CNN is reporting that Michael Jackson’s body will be laid out for a public viewing this Friday at his longtime home Neverland Ranch; it’ll be transported there on Thursday. The spectacle that will inevitably arise from this event was assured to be bonkers; add to that the fact that on Friday many Americans’ workplaces will be granting their employees a day off to celebrate Independence Day, and one could say that this event will assuredly be mind-bending at the very least. I wonder how many people started camping outside the ranch as soon as this story broke? [CNN]

It should be no secret that Michael Jackson has alway had a strong and devoted following amongst the mentally ill.
Well, it’s Sky News. Only marginally more thoroughly researched than a standard Onion article. Based on Sky News’s reputation alone I’d assume most of it was made up out of whole cloth.
Also: the real Jackson fans lined up at Neverland two days ago in anticipation of this happening.
Finally: I’ve noted several people in various places criticizing Joe Jackson for pimping his record label at every opportunity. At first I was very very confused as to what a British New Waver-cum-Classical Composer was doing at the BET awards in the first place.
@revmatty: Oh, me too- I was all, “Why’s everyone hating on Joe Jackson? Why is he in the news.” And then I remembered that it was THIS Joe Jackson, not “look Sharp” JJ.

@Varina: Me too, I saw a headline at Fark that said “Joe Jackson is still a dick” and I thought it said “…still a duck” because the other Joe Jackson kind of…well…looks like a duck.
