Boy-band lifers the Backstreet Boys have yet another comeback single up their sleeves, the Red One-produced, lengthily titled “Straight Through My Heart (Soldier Down).” With synths lifted from Real Life’s 1983 hit “Send Me An Angel,” a strident beat, and a vague similarity to the Boys’ own “Shape Of My Heart,” this song is definitely built to bring them into the mold of current retrograde synthpop. I can’t stop listening to it! And not because of some weird tech problem, either. Clip after the jump.
Not sure if this is “the new ‘I Want It That Way’ “ that Nick Carter told Popjustice about in a recent interview, but something tells me it isn’t. I still like it, though!

Very, very Euro. I like it too.
My midsummer playlist is going to have this and a lot of Leighton Meester in it.
I’m really, really glad the synthpop train is pulling away from the shrill/limited voices station (Katy Perry/Kevin Rudolf) to better singers and harmonies.
Very nice. It sort of beats you into submission the same way all of Red One’s stuff does but yeah, it’s at least two key changes short of the new “I Want It That Way”.
Maura, are you the exact same age as me? I remember when “Send Me an Angel” was shown constantly on MTV.
