The brooding look and tousled hair scream Madonna:

But the eyebrows scream You Can Dance to me:

Although maybe the photo is from her True Blue era? The eyeshadow is more True Turquoise than Blue, though.

Mainly I’m just hoping that this throwback feel will result in Madonna getting back together with her former collaborator Jellybean Benitez for, like, just one song. It won’t be on Celebration, which is apparently all set for a late-September release, but I can hold out hope for just a 12-inch? Yes?

It’s a mash of 2 different photos. The face is from the Jean Baptiste Mondino shoot for Bazaar in 1990 I believe (wet hair, shiny silver top). And the hair is from a separate photo, shopped onto the face. thats why her forehead looks crazy big.
Derivative for sure but it’s an awesome picture.
I can’t help but dwell on the “Contains Three Special Dub Versions * Available on CD Only” bit on the one cover. There’s the passage of time.
She really should throw Jellybean some crumbs. He started her career and I would say her first album is still her best. It didn’t get the push “Like A Virgin” got, but it’s material is still the cornerstone of her career.
i’m glad that madonna’s face of way back when is gracing the album cover, rather than the scary version that she’s been sculpting as of late.
