Whoa! I wrote too soon. Did a full refresh over at iTunes (don’t know why it didn’t refresh the first time), and I see “Forever” has moved up to #4! Only the Peas and the Kings(tons) stand between Brown and the top spot. Were Jill and Kevin on teevee again this morning?

As of 11:30ish AM EDT Saturday (25 July 2009), the video has racked up over 4.6 million views on YouTube (3.5+ million in the last 24 hours), and the digital track has cracked the Top 10 at iTunes. I am reliably informed that “Jill and Kevin” were on The Today Show today, and I suspect thousands of people hit up YouTube to check out the full-length clip (at 5+ minutes, it’s not being shown in full on the TV morning shows).

The YouTube clip now includes an adver-overlay offering the viewer the opportunity to impulse-buy the track at iTunes (default) or Amazon, and that no doubt is where a lot of the digital sales mojo is coming from. In response to @VivaLaMainstream, I actually thought Brown and his label and his “people” would be insane to C&D this. It’s clear now that not only are they not trying to stop it, they’re actively riding the momentum to “cachet” in.
