Just for posterity’s sake “Forever” is #6 on iTunes as of right now. I saw it as high as #4 earlier in the day. The internet is amazing.

Killed as in removed from the website? I’m positive they haven’t killed the chart itself; just this week their “Chart Beat” columnists reported on some trivia related to that list: http://www.billboard.com/column/chartbeat#/column/chartbeat/chart-beat-wednesday-coldplay-kings-of-leon-1003996167.story

In the physical magazine, Billboard’s new practice since June is to run the all-flavor Rock Songs chart every week and, next to that, to rotate the four niche charts, two at a time. One week, they run Alternative and Triple A; the next week, they run Active Rock and Heritage Rock.

Billboard has finally updated their site now and it’s caused havoc on Wikipedia, because all their sources for chart positions are gone now and they have to replace them.

On the plus side, Phoenix’s “1901″ – which remains my favorite song of the year – has now jumped from #37 to #31 on Hot Alternative Tracks.

But Billboard also seems to have killed Hot Triple A Tracks. Which I liked.

i’m not one of those “Rock Band will save the music industry” dudes, but RB did get Kings of Leon DLC last week (but “Use Somebody” wasn’t one of the songs, so, i dunno – probably has nothing to do with it).

Yeah, I know the last bump “Use Somebody” had on iTunes was from after the MTV Movie Awards. I have no idea what would suddenly propel it to #2 there though. I guess because of it’s huge airplay increase it’s getting discovered by the CHR kiddies with money to spend. I guess that’s how Shinedown hit the top ten, “Second Chance” made some appearances in the iTunes top ten based on its CHR airplay.

And one notch below at #12 is Cobra Starship’s “Good Girls Go Bad,” shooting way up thanks to sales. Next week’s top ten should be stellar.

I dig that Taylor Swift song huge and I’m not afraid to admit it.
