Shakira Is A Total Freaking Goofball (And It’s Kind Of Great)

shewolf1There is something about Shakira’s disco-twitchy single “She Wolf” that makes me giggle. Maybe it’s the lyrical use of “lycanthropy,” or the way she delicately caterwauls “aa-woo” on the chorus? Or both, and add to that the way that her voice on the chorus is stripped of all the barkiness that characterized so much of what I didn’t like about her previous material. Anyway, the video is just as kooky as the track, with the hip-shaking singer escaping the confines of her boring old marital bed in order to shake her booty while caged, in a club, and, er, trapped in some sort of organ. (I think it’s the heart. I hope it’s the heart.) Clip after the jump.

A-woo!

  • Flesh-colored leotard is never a good look. Ever. And the song sounds entirely composed of presets. I can't believe I briefly liked Shakira, back when she had black hair and a guitar.

I still really really hate the English version of this, considering how incredibly good the Spanish version is. But this video is weird and brilliant and hot.

I kinda love this song and the video makes it even better. She looks like she is having a giggle.
  • I don't like the song, but that video made me gay.

i'm sure she's supposed to look sexy, but i just see a malfunctioning robotic Real Doll.

between this and the madonna song, generic dance music is having the best week ever.
  • Weezy F Baby
Am I the only person that's picking up some Natalie Merchant in the verses?
  • That girl can move her body in ways I didn't know possible.

I love both song and video. And the flesh colored leotard is hilarious - it makes all the cage scenes practically pornographic.

This is my summer jam. Love it.

Who ever came up with those dance moves has run out of ideas.
  • This video and I are to be married.
