The Sugababes Are Trapped And Chained

00026091I really, really wish that I liked “Get Sexy,” the first single from the Sugababes’ forthcoming attempt to Break Big In The States (Finally), a bit more than I do, because all I can see are weird references to the girls being bound and confined in the song’s attendant video. Like on the chorus, the setting of which brings to mind parallels the Spinal Tap scene where Derek Smalls gets trapped in a cocoon—perhaps a sly way of commenting on being trapped into having to regurgitate Right Said Fred verses for the purposes of grabbing fickle American ears? Clip after the jump.

Keisha and Heidi need to sit down- there’s a reason people have been making fun of them for looking “mumsy” since Taller in More Ways. Amelle looks nice though. I haven’t got much else to say as I can’t deal with the song and couldn’t finish the video without putting it on “mute”.

Yeah, it’s weird how Shakira in a cage can seem really awesome, but it’s really weird when it’s somebody else.

    (That’s not sarcasm.)

Also, ‘club’ and ‘hurts’ still don’t rhyme.

@NunyaB: It’s so awful. It’s like someone said “Let’s take ‘When I Grow Up’ and make it worse,” and everyone else was just like, “sure, whatever, why not.”

Maybe in the future dance music should be made by people who like to dance. So. Frickin’. Slow.
This really makes me appreciate the Millionaires. Which may be why they avoid using that word.

Oh my goodness, well! Isn’t this just utterly, horrifically TERRIBLE? I just cried a little for them.

Thanks, Sugababes. Bananarama’s videos never looked so good. All they did was buy a giant magic bullet blender, a roll of plastic, some aluminum foil, and lights. Then they borrowed En Vogue’s dresses and took scissors to them, swayed awkwardly, and called it a video.

What’s so good about ‘making it’ in America anyway? (I know, the money)

This made me miss the unapologetically brit-pop days of Girls Aloud’s “Biology”. Please, don’t try to sound like fucking PCD, it’s not a good look for anyone.
