Excluding the moonman category, there are thirty-some acts sharing nominations across 14 categories. It’s disappointing that this small number are all that get recognized. They aren’t the best of the best. Beyonce and Lady Gaga share something like 18 nominations, alone.
Remember when music video television bombarded us with a nice smorgasbord of great viewing (back in the moonman nominees’ days)? I recently watched 30 minutes of “hot, new videos” on one of the MuchMTVH1 channels – only to be left underwhelmed and angry about it.
