Fall Out Boy Set Sail

August 6th, 2009 // 4 Comments

The pre-release campaign for Fall Out Boy’s “What A Catch, Donnie” video, the latest clip from Folie à Deux, has nearly rivaled that of The Blair Witch Project as far as suspense goes. Is it a sign that the band’s breaking up? Or taking a long hiatus? Well, now the nautical-themed “Catch,” which has lead singer Patrick Stump crooning the tune while hanging out with a bird on a boat (that thankfully has a piano), is out, and I’m sure it’ll be parsed to no end by fans. Especially because of its ending—which, as Pete Wentz told MTV, is “a bit of a cliffhanger, which is kind of cool.” I’ll probably watch it a few more times before any hidden meanings float to the surface, but you can dive right in after the jump.

  1. I kept waiting for him to sing “I’m on a boat motherfucker/I’m on a motherfucking boat” and tell me about his flippy-floppies.

  2. Was hoping against logic that Elvis Costello would suddenly emerge from the ship’s deck to sing his verse.

Then he’d stop the song and do “Radio, Radio.”

    Ah, dreams.

  3. Wentz literally going down with the ship. Kind of hitting us over the head with that one. Sadly, I think this is largely meaningless.

  4. from wentz: “new edit of the video soon because ofcourse they went and put up an edit without our approval. get rid of the cgi wackness.”
