Skunk Anansie Slip Back Into Their Old Skin

August 10th, 2009 // 4 Comments

The British hard-rock band Skunk Anansie are the latest ’90s-alt act to reunite, with a forthcoming greatest-hits collection apparently serving as a warm-up for a full-on new album and tour. Skunk Anansie were led by the striking bald wailer Skin, and were probably best-known to American audiences as “the female-fronted rock band that was on the soundtrack to Strange Days… no, not the one that involved PJ Harvey songs performed by Juliette Lewis, the other one.” (Oh, what a decade that was.) The band’s best-of, Smashes And Trashes, comes out in the UK in November, and the first single from it is “Because Of You,” on which Skin reveals that she can still wail with the best of them. Clip after the jump.

  1. Yay!

That’s all I have to say about this. Could be worse though. My British friends are so excited they can only seem to mumble incoherently.

  2. I knew them first as “the band that covered Teenage Kicks at the Brit Awards back when ABC used to show the Brit Awards in the middle of the night.”

  3. They’re also best known to 90s post-grunge fans as “that band with the bald chick who did that song with Sevendust.”
