The first single from Nelly Furtado’s Spanish-language album, “Manos Al Aire,” is a decent piece of guitar-pop that brings to mind a slightly harsher mutation of Natalie Imbruglia’s “Torn.” But it’s probably not a good sign that the first thing I thought of upon seeing this cover was lead Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger’s ill-fated (yet reportedly still-in-the-cards) solo album Her Name Is Nicole, no? I guess since that never came out, the Universal suits figured they could get away with this imagery…

I’m pretty confident you and Nicole Scherzinger are the only two people still thinking about a Nicole Scherzinger solo album. That said, it is a hideous cover that I can’t believe was approved, by Furtado or anyone else. And she’s Portuguese! Why is she putting out a Spanish album? She should do a fado album; that would be impressive.
Blah, I really don’t like that new song. Or maybe it’s because I don’t like the video? Either way, kind of disappointing.
@pdfreeman: She’s actually releasing the same album in portuguese later in the year.
@michaela: Yeah, underwhelmer!
This is kind of apropos of nothing, but has anyone heard that singer Anjulie that VH1/MTV seem to be pushing pretty hard (without much of a stick, it seems)? I don’t know if I like her, but she sounds like a dead ringer for early Nelly Furtado.
heeeeyyyyyyy sexy wanna come spend some time with me.
