Tonight’s set by the pugilistic Britpop titans Oasis at the Rock En Seine Festival, which was supposed to commence about an hour ago, was canceled at the last minute due to an “altercation,” the crowd was told. Well, that “altercation” was actually Noel Gallagher up and quitting the band because of his brotherly love pretty much going pffft! Good thing he had enough sense to blog about it immediately afterward:
“It’s with some sadness and great relief to tell you that I quit Oasis tonight. People will write and say what they like, but I simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer.
“Apologies to all the people who bought tickets for the shows in Paris, Konstanz and Milan.”
Well, that’s terse. But I guess it’s nice that he got the real story out right away!

Does this mean that Blur won?
@Maura: Depends on what Damon says in the next issue of NME.
@Maura: They won a long time ago. I like that they had a cancellation-via-altercation message ready to go. Be prepared.
@Maura: Lucas beat me to it, but yeah… Blur won as soon as the rivalry was created.
Whatever, they will make up in 3 days or something.
@brasstax: Actually, in the war between Blur and Oasis, I like to think Pulp won, really.
@BradNelson: As Pulp predates both bands, I never really considered them part of the equation (I still prefer Blur even with Pulp involved, tho).
i’m with BradNelson. Pulp always wins. which makes me wonder where Suede fits in then? hmmm……
