I love Kelly as much as the next regular Idolator reader and think that she should be taken at nothing less than face value here. I can’t help but laugh at the whining (I drove 4 1/2 hours to get there. In the snow. Barefoot.) – and how exactly is it Kelly’s problem that you ate (and paid for!) $30 worth of fair food?

Still, the one thing that does kind of suck is having to pay the admission fee to get into the fair when you only wanted to go to a show that ended up getting canceled. I know that with the big state fair near me (Puyallup Fair), your fair admission is included with the purchase of a concert ticket.

@arhendrickson: Your kid is nine, good time to learn that shit happens. If Clarkson actually was sick what is she supposed to do to make it up to you people? Go door to door and offer to bake you all cookies?

@arhendrickson: Not to be dismissive, but it's never too early to learn that the world doesn't always operate the way you want it to. People get sick! Stuff happens! Etc. (And I'm going to hazard a guess that your daughter, despite being disappointed, acted in a manner that was more mature than the Twitterers linked above, who are likely four times her age at the very least yet behaved as if they'd had a blankie taken from them.)

It is not just that she cancelled, but cancelled two hours before show time. I drove 4 1/2 hours to take my nine year old daughter to see her. My little girl was in tears because of this and how does a parent make that up to a child. A new dress or toy doesn’t even come close to making up for not getting to see a concert.
