Madonna’s video for her greatest-hits package’s lead single “Celebration” was released today, and it’ll be available as a free download via iTunes through Thursday. One might think that said decision was justified by whoever makes these sorts of calls because of its seeming near-lack of a production budget, but as it turns out, the video was directed by “Ray Of Light” helmsman Jonas Akerlund. The stark backgrounds that Madonna and her fellow celebrants have been placed against look like they’re supposed to represent the aftermath of last year’s black-hole-tastic clip for “4 Minutes”; although there’s no Justin Timberlake to be found, Madonna’s current boy toy Jesus Luz makes a cameo appearance as a DJ, and Daughter Of The Material Girl Lourdes “Lola” Leon also makes an appearance. Clip after the jump.
Meanwhile, prolific music-video director Joseph Kahn has made a play to direct Madge’s next clip, saying via Twitter, “Madonna, I am your demon directing spawn who knows how to take care of you. Enough with the Swedes & their white walls. Call me.” Hey, he did direct Britney Spears’ clip for “Toxic”…

@Chris Molanphy: It must be the stadium tour. She has to make sure her grinds play to the back of the house.
Not sure who this video is for, other than her already fully committed fans. This track is a re-mix and they are supposedly releasing the orig-mix video/single later. Madonna is demanding a LOT of attention, especially when she gives us this clip that seems designed to let us know that she barely cares anymore. Why should we?
