Sept. 9 has finally come, and with it comes a slew of Beatles-related material: the remasters; the release of The Beatles: Rock Band; the maybe-but-maybe-not digital release of the band’s catalog. Instead of sifting through the many inches of virtual column space that have been devoted to these phenomena, or God help me trying to add to them, I’ll just ask: Are you buying any of the remasters, or the Rock Band tie-in? And if you’re buying the remasters, stereo or mono? And—perhaps the most interesting question to this pair of eyes—did you pick up your newly acquired albums at your local 7-Eleven alongside a Cheeseburger Big Bite?

Not buying any of it – game or albums. I’ve never liked the Beatles.
I think I’d actually be more likely to buy the reissues at a 7-Eleven as an impulse buy. I actually didn’t realize that the reissuing of their material was such a big deal, the supply has always seemed ample to me.
I mmmight buy the double-disc PAST MASTERS thing, since it has 90% of the Beatles songs I like, but I’ll probably be too lazy to bother quite frankly.
I should also note that if their catalog was availabel on itunes, I would certainly have bought some of their songs on there even if just to keep my girlfriend happy.
I’m spending the day telling myself that I don’t need the big box set even though I get the shakes just thinking about its beauty.
I’ll probably buy Beatles: Rock Band, although I’m not sure which configuration. I don’t know if I really care whether I have a plastic version of Paul’s Hofner bass.
Just bought Revolver and the White album. Half way through the first listen of Revolver. Nice sound, and a much better bottom end too. Packaging is a bit hit or miss really. The release notes and recording notes add little. Cool pictures though!
The thought of a Cheeseburger Big Bite makes me shudder. Bomb Burrito + Revolver or Sgt Peppers on the other hand…
The reviews on P-fork have been pretty excellent. Definitely making me want ‘em more.
Just stopped by J&R here in NYC, and they practically laughed me off when I asked about the boxes — they sold out instantly after their doors opened.
(I have a birthday coming up but might’ve plunked down for the mono box if it had been in stock. I know, naive.)
I’m trying to convince my mother to buy it and then I’ll just rip hers to my iTunes and read everything else in in few months. Like most people her age, she’s a huge beatles fan. If that fails, I’m going to do like Lucas Jensen above and try to convince myself I don’t need them.
A couple of weeks ago I got lots of their early albums–in both British and American configurations–on vinyl at a yard sale, so I’m set for a while with the early stuff. And since I don’t really love much of what they did after Help!, I’ll probably skip the rest.
@bcapirigi: “I don’t really love much of what they did after Help!, I’ll probably skip the rest.”
That’s like saying, “Hmm, these pork chops were really good, but I think I’ll pass on any of that super-delicious dessert.”
All I know is that my 11-year-old brother is suddenly obsessed with the Beatles. The marketing on that Rock Band game must be dynamite!
I already own the back half of their catalog on cd and also a bunch on vinyl from my parents. I would probably buy some of the Beatles films if they were re-released.
@Lucas Jensen: Oh man yeah totally dude I am having a nervous breakdown over how pretty that thing is and how I just want to own it to experience its beauty daily.
Snagged the stereo box today. Salivating over the mono box and plotting to obtain one. As for rock band – here’s hoping santa comes through this year.
