Miley Cyrus’ new single may sound like a Velveeta-and-Miracle Whip sandwich that was made on Wonder Bread and served up on one of those brightly colored plates that come in a Target For Dorm Rooms set, but imagining All Caps Chat Room Version Of Jim Thome sing along with its lyrics—which are somehow more inane than the song’s music, and that’s a feat—made me laugh for about five minutes straight, for real. (The whole series of chat-room scenarios in which newish teammates Manny Ramirez and Thome try to reunite the 1997 Cleveland Indians for purposes of winning a World Series is really good, for those of you who enjoy the sport of baseball.) Jim Thome bought my friend a drink in a bar once. I had no idea who he was, but I shook his hand anyway. His fingers were like sausages.
I can’t even bear to think of the ’97 Indians. TOO MUCH PAIN
Thank you for once again reminding me of The Dugout!
