R. Kelly has released the remix of his sex-as-chart-topper single “Number One,” which features T-Pain and Keyshia Cole, and lest you think that T-Pain was totally giving up on digitally manipulating his voice for the purpose of topping the charts, the new track is an AutoTune-drenched affair that makes me think the whole lot of them should try and see what Britney Spears is up to. Meanwhile, there’s a remix of Shakira’s “She Wolf” around that also purports to have the Big Ass Chain-wearing singer/rapper on it. “She Wolf” has stalled out on the charts, dipping from No. 11 to No. 13 on the most recent edition of the Billboard Hot 100, and presumably someone thought that adding a lot of AutoTune and a not-as-discoish beat would save it. I am skeptical, but I also know that the goofiness that makes me love “She Wolf” as much as I do was probably death in the eyes of those focus-group members who appreciate being bludgeoned into oblivion with their pop music.

Hmm…I actually really like the Shakira remix. But I also LOVE the original. I guess I just like this one in a different way?
Agreed on why the remix was done, though. 11 is higher than I ever would have expected the original to place on the Hot 100. It is amazing, but sounds like it was made for European audiences. This remix could give it a big sales boost on iTunes.
@chachwitablog: Yeah! I mean I love “She-Wolf” to death, but considering that it’s a post-disco piece of bubblegum covered with some chocolate flavored mushrooms imported from ‘of montreal’, it could have done so much worse. I haven’t gotten around the T-Pain remix, that guy is like musical-boner killer for me.
