Chris Brown released “I Can Transform Ya,” his first real single since the whole domestic-violence incident with Rihanna, yesterday. Backed by a noisy Swizz Beatz-supplied beat and assisted by a verse by Lil Wayne at his most nasal, Brown talks about how his American Express Black Card can turn the object of his desire into a globe-trotting label whore. Ah, romance. Clip after the jump.

This song is kinda good, but the beat is just so aggressive. So aggressive that it makes me want to punch somebody. I think that’s a really, REALLY bad characteristic for a Chris Brown song to have.
Y’know….if the Chris Brown that first charmed me hadn’t been a cul-de-sac dancing, middle-class-actin’ kid – if rather inarticulate when not singing, and sometimes even then – I might be okay with his continued attempt at a career. But I have to say…I find it painful to look at.
The difference between the reality of him and the earlier marketing of him is out, and it’s just too irreconcilable. He was a boy that masses of urban & suburban girls alike were swooning over, and now he’s been revealed as just the typical nightmare thug. As a brown person, I suppose this kind of pisses me off. And besides, he’s now moved into a more crowded market and lost any distinction he had, for me.
@ObtuseIntolerant: but…but…he’s wearing baby blue and a bow tie in that larry king interview! HOW COULD YOU NOT TRUST SOMEONE LIKE THAT!!!
