Vampire Weekend Make A Bodega Run

281x211Riding the wave of being name-checked by Ghostface (alongside Billy Joel and Pink) in yesterday’s New York Times, knitwear-loving New York band Vampire Weekend has released the first song from their forthcoming album Contra. (It comes out in January.) “Horchata” is a catchy little bit of fluff that rhymes the titular drink with “Balaclava,” and it certainly won’t stop people from comparing them to Paul Simon at every turn. But that’s OK, because near the end? It erupts into some serious orchestral bliss. It’s available as a free download from their official site; there’s an embed after the jump.

Can’t wait for a remix of this track to show up on the deluxe edition of The Wizard Of Poetry!

  1. For orchestral bliss, it’s no “M79″. That kinda makes me sad, cause I’m unironically rooting for these wealthy white male underdogs.

  2. Searching for this for some time now – i guess luck is more advanced than search engines :)
