Kelly Clarkson Suits Up For The White Stripes’ Army

Inaugural American Idol Kelly Clarkson has added yet another cover to her repetoire, which already included an Alanis Morrissette/Kings Of Leon mashup and a scorching version of Janet Jackson’s “If”; this time, she’s making the White Stripes’ “Seven Nation Army” her own, with a version that shows off the sultry side of her voice (although I think the horns could be toned down just a bit). Let’s hope that Jack White’s comment on this isn’t too overly “purist,” yes? [YouTube]

  1. The sad thing is- I knew she was doing this cover, and when she busted out with it at Hammerstein last night, it still took me a little while to realize what song it was. She has such a radiance to her, and her genuine love for all kinds of music is so endearing. She did a cover of the Black Keys’ “Lies,” too, which was pretty fabulous, all bluesy and whatnot. I definitely though it was something from the ’50s.
