I think the reason I like it is that it stole a lot of its DNA from Stacy Q's "Two of Hearts." This feels like a slowed down, more murmury version. Like it. I haven't heard "Body Control" but I really liked "Birthday" - it felt like a fun, confident pop/rock song. It also seemed to actually use Leighton's voice, unlike this one. This is loads better than her "Birthday" demo from last year; this feels like a proper pop song by a proper pop singer, and I think it shows some amount of confidence to release a song without some sort of out of control middle 8 or a soaring bit. This is a very chill song. FWIW, Maura, I think her having lended her vocal prowess to Cobra Starship was less about artistic collaboration, than about getting her name out there and allowing people to get past the shock of Blair Waldorf: Pop Star.
