A security guard at the Chicago House Of Blues has been arrested on a misdemeanor battery charge after shoving a concert attendee to the ground—apparently because she took a picture of him. The victim and a clutch of friends were waiting outside the venue Monday night in hopes of catching members of Hanson going back to their tour bus after their show there, and had her camera confiscated by the guard shortly after he ordered them to clear out of the loading area.
A video posted to Buzznet that starts mid-altercation—apparently it started with a shouting match—shows the guard repeatedly shoving the woman after taking her camera. The video is long, chaotic, and confusing, and frankly kind of scary when the guard demands that the young woman apologize to him. While holding her down. Ugh. For their part, flacks for House Of Blues owners Live Nation told the Chicago Sun-Times:
“We take our responsibility to maintain the safety of both our patrons and the artists who play at the House of Blues very seriously. We are looking into the incident and will cooperate fully with the authorities.”
Not much else to say, except that I hope they’re serious about that.

The bouncers are not nice there, or anywhere, but I’ve never had a problem with them and I got to much rougher shows than Hanson. The Buzznet headline is extremely misleading, it should read “Fan assaulted by House of Blues security for running after him and assaulting him several times”.
@drunkwithpower: Anything to back that up?
@drunkwithpower: You’ve obviously never been to a Hanson show.
Blues legends Hanson had no comment at press time.
@Weezy F Baby: Yeah, the video at the link. That retard keeps running at the security guard and he keeps pushing her away. He’s a neaderthal to be sure, but his responsibility is to protect the interests of the venue. Or maybe 14 year old girls who don’t understand that just shouldn’t be hanging out in the back alleys of venues without their parents.
@drunkwithpower: Umm WTF!? He was arrested for assaulting the girl that he had pinned down…which should be false imprisonment. She was yelling for help too…does that not count?
I went to see a Tinted Windows show a couple months ago in Philly, and though it was very well-played and should have been awesome, it was full of Hanson fans who appeared intent on spoiling the vibe, intentionally, by being rude, weird, chattily inattentive and creepy. And acting like there were NOT a solid handful of incredibly awesome other people on the stage besides Taylor Hanson deserving of any praise. It was kinda awkward. The poor Hansons have got some baggage, there. I can really see how this could happen with that crew. *shudder*
@wushu2004: false inprisonment? of who? the security guard? what? Also note that the video starts with her pinned down and judging by her behavior afterwards I’m surprised the guy didn’t take the opportunity to hog tie her. Like I said, that guy’s definitely a thug but there’s a lot of other stuff in play here.
