Johnny Gill Will Not Stand For People Rubbing You The Almost-Right Way

In the above clip, Johnny Gill crashes The Arsenio Hall Show after the titular host tries to throw down a couple of verses of his 1990 hit “Rub You The Right Way.” The freestyled version of “Rub” that Gill subsequently throws down is so grin-inducing that I had to share it with all of you. I hope you mean grin as in happy, don’t be clowning on Gill, cause Johnny toe that up. Man I love that song, I have like 7 remixes of it, for reals and am recording a cover of it for fun. So sweet you posted that, I am 32, so when this was out I was like 12 and man, I had all the Bell Biv Devo, ABC, Gill, Bobby Brown and Ralph Tresvant stuff I could find.

Thanks man or girl, you made my morning, if you are interested in the remixes email me and I can arrange for them to appear in your email,

“Rub You The Right Way,” alongside the System’s “Don’t Disturb This Groove,” are the two songs I want to have slow jam playing at a dance party, but am too embarassed to actually put on. This performance is basically amazing and maybe gave me a panic attack.
