Adam Lambert just announced via Twitter that his forthcoming album, which drops Nov. 23, will be called… For Your Entertainment. Which struck these ears as a little bit odd, given that said awkward construction is also the reasoning behind he awkwardly acronymic name of the bruised and battered mall chain F.Y.E. Is this some sort of odd synergy, or is this year’s American Idol runner-up just that serious about bringing back the music business’ go-go era of the ’90s any way that he can? [adamlambert/Twitter]

So I saw this headline and I was SURE he’d called the album HOT TOPIC. Which would have been, frankly, hilarious and awesome.
@dyfl: It would make more sense!!!
I thought that too, and then I remembered that Hot Topic actually sells inexplicable shitloads of records.
I’m choosing to regard the title as an homage to Roxy Music’s For Your Pleasure rather than to mall retail.
I second the Roxy Music reference. They’re one of the original glam rock bands, and Adam often wears outfits that remind me of young Bryan Ferry. (wings?)
