I think Cole's ego is already bloated, considering her X-Factor gig and the tabloids monikering her the UK's sweetheart. That's a long way from when she and Ashley were known as the Bad Taste Beckhams several years back.

This is a pretty great piece, and I appreciate the sensitivity involved in discussing how differently women function in the pop world then men, and especially that natural biology might play some role in the withering of girl groups before they reach maturity. And I also love the focus on Beyonce, and Destiny's Child, because that brings up the point of what exactly constitutes a successful solo career. Kelly Rowland's success in the UK has solidified that she is doing well for herself, but when Victoria Beckham tried to gain that same sort of inroad she was considered a failure for not consistantly charint at number one; is this because Victoria was standing in the shadow of the other four versus Kelly only standing behind Beyonce, or is there something else to it? I think there is probably something to be explored so far as the different perspectives the public has of American girl groups versus British ones.

Great piece, really, I loved it. (And long live Siobhan.)
